Sad News

A number of WellSpring people
are in a time of grief at the moment.

Val Butler

Val Butler, a dear friend of many WellSpring people, passed away peacefully on Wednesday 29 June, after a long illness. We were witnesses to the deep love shared between Val and her husband Keith, and hold him and their family in our prayers.

Val was instrumental in bringing the early dream of WellSpring into being as she enabled the gifts she saw in others to flourish. She remained keenly involved with WellSpring, especially through the spiritual direction community, and as a very faithful prayer companion, for the rest of her life.

In deep appreciation we remember Val with her beautiful smile of welcome; her lively interest in, and care for others; and her encouraging, nurturing spirit. We are grateful for all that she has given to the community of WellSpring; our lives have been enriched through her gifts.

Keith writes:
Thanks for walking with us on this journey. I am well-supported, especially by my girls.

Val's Funeral Service is set for:

Thursday 7 July at 2pm at St Mark's Anglican Church, 1 Balnarring Rd, Balnarring – this is Keith and Val's home church.

For those who cannot/do not wish to travel down to Balnarring, or for whom a less formal service of thanksgiving is more suited, there will be a Memorial Thanksgiving Service on:

Friday 8 July at 2pm at The Village Baxter Chapel, Gate 2, 181 Robinsons Road, Frankston South

Please note that there is no need to attend both services. There will be refreshments after both, and immediate family will be in attendance at both services.

It was Val’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in support of Village Baxter Chaplain’s fund (Phone Rod on (03) 5971 6333).

For any/all enquiries, please call Jen Thompson (Val and Keith's daughter) on 0409 351 228.

Gwen Fitts, mother of Margaret Loftus

The WellSpring community also holds Margaret Loftus and her family in prayer, following the passing of Marg’s mother Gwen early last week.

Marg is a vital part of WellSpring, having held the position of Programs and Volunteers Coordinator until a few years ago, and still very active in facilitating WellSpring workshops and co-facilitating the monthly group 'A Contemplative Circle', and the unit ‘Leading Contemplative Groups’ with Chris Page.

The Thanksgiving Service for Gwen will be held on Thursday 7 July at 1.30pm at St Peter’s Anglican Church, 371 Neerim Road Carnegie, following a private burial earlier in the day.
