SoCal Trip

My trip to Southern California last month was another really great trip. The majority of the time was spent at California Baptist University, where we had over 25 individual appointments with students to talk about missions and next steps. In addition to these conversations, there were a lot of sign-ups to connect with us in February when we will be back in town. Outside of our time at CBU, we were able to have important meetings at other universities and churches. One church that we met with desires to send 100 members from their congregation, long-term, to a very specific part of the world in the coming years! With each trip to Southern California, it seems that we develop more strategic partners and it’s so exciting to see how the Lord is raising up and sending out workers to the harvest.

The Fletcher Center

As the church pursues God’s mission and sends out people to proclaim the Gospel to the unreached, organizations like Pioneers, that exist to serve the church and to see churches planted among the unreached, continue to grow. The last several months have been very exciting here at our headquarters as our building construction continues to move ahead. Two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to walk around the new construction site, pray over the building and the reason for its existence, and pray for some of the top-focus people groups around the world. As groups of people prayed for a specific people group by name, the name was painted on the walls around maps of the different regions of the world. As John Piper has said, “Missions exists because worship doesn’t”. Our heart and our prayer is that these people groups would be penetrated by the truth of the Gospel and that they would worship the true, living God.

Family News

We feel very grateful to say that after 2 years of being in Orlando, we finally feel like we have a great community of friends that we are part of. It has been absolutely lovely to reach this point!! Layla and Liam are both doing well. Layla is enjoying her ABC’s and playing pretend and Liam loves reading and being loud! (;
We would like to ask you to pray for Layla. She has not been sleeping well (we assume) the past 2-3 months and we are trying to get to the bottom of it. We’ve done everything we can to encourage good sleep, and still she wakes exhausted in the mornings and stays tired throughout the day. This produces a very emotional little girl. She’s had a cold the last 2 weeks, but as soon as she is healthy her doctor has recommended sleeping nearby her to see if she is actually waking at night/snoring/anything like that. If not, they will be testing her hemoglobin to see if she is anemic. We would just ask you to pray for an answer, as this has been going on a long time for her and us.
Upcoming Travel

In just two weeks, we will all get to travel as a family to Spokane, Washington! Scott will be participating in the Moody Bible Institute- Spokane missions conference and we will all be spending time with family for the rest of the week. Please pray for Scott as he will be leading a session on the topic of “Men in Missions”, addressing the continued decline of men going to the mission field. Please also pray for a really fun time connecting with family that we haven’t seen in the past year.
With love,
Scott, Ali, Layla and Liam
