Next week 68 college students will converge in Orlando for a 4 day preparation time before heading to 14 different countries this summer for 6, 8, or 10 weeks.
Please be praying with us!
*Pray that the lives of these students would be forever changed as they seek the Lord for their lives
*Pray that they would be a blessing to the long-termers they are working with and that they would help to further their ministry impact
*Pray that all the details of orientation (session speakers, transportation, topics covered, etc.) would go smoothly
*Praise that the kids and I (Ali) get to go to orientation and I get to participate in some of the sessions and coaching one of the Edge Peer Leaders
This spring has had more than a few challenges for Edge. It has been the most difficult year in the recent past, we are told. Several teams were cancelled for a variety of reasons, which is very uncommon. The Nepal team was cancelled because of the earthquake, teams going to North Africa because of ISIS attacks and further threats, and other teams for other reasons. Lots of the students have had their plans changed and are going to a different location than they originally expected. There have been last minute visa changes by different host country's governments and a myriad of other out of the norm things happening. It's been very evident that the spiritual warfare has been strong this spring.
*Please pray with us for this program and these students going on the trips this summer. This is a life changing trip for many, and it's worth pressing on for!
*Pray for the Edge staff, it has been a stressful and tiring past few months and they are feeling a bit weary.
Summer is almost here!
We are looking forward to making a two week trip to Lynchburg, VA after orientation ends, and hoping to see some of you while we are there!
Our big family news is that Liam turned ONE last month! He's a big boy now! Our little 4lb baby is not so tiny anymore and has just about caught up with the full-term babies from being a preemie. He is starting to stand on his own and cruise around furniture. He's got a voracious appetite, especially for any kind of meat! He can say "dada," "mama," "uh-oh," and his own version of Layla, which usually comes out like "yay-ya." And which does his say most often? "Yay-ya" of course! He adores his big sister.
Layla is as energetic as always, and enjoying life to the fullest. She loves being outside (even when it's 100 degrees!), swimming, reading and coloring. Her imagination is in full force and we regularly hear her in her own little world playing with her stuffed animals.
We talk with Lojana regularly, and the church that we told you about in our last letter, in the village of Lotome, is continuing to grow. Thank you for praying! The church members in Ikotos are continuing to reach out and preach the word each Sunday in this village. Keep praying for the spread of the gospel in South Sudan!
As always, we thank you for your prayers and support of the ministry God has us in! We have been so blessed to have many of you by our side for years now.
Enjoy your summer!
With love, Scott, Ali, Layla and Liam
