Sunlight to Electricity: Navigating the Field
The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton University recently published its latest Energy Technology Distillate, "Sunlight to Electricity: Navigating the Field," an in-depth look at the current state of the solar power industry and where it may be headed.

The Andlinger Center Speaks: the impact of a total solar eclipse on the electric grid
 On Monday, August 21, 2017, residents in 14 states experienced a total solar eclipse. Many people in the rest of North America and parts of South America, Europe, and Africa saw a partial eclipse. Some in the public worried whether the event would affect solar power generation and whether the electrical grid could withstand this loss in power.
Barry Rand addressed these questions and the real challenges solar power faces in the latest Q/A for “The Andlinger Center Speaks."

Daniel Steingart co-wrote a paper published in Science Advances on how he and a team of researchers developed a new nanolithography technique to create, analyze and erase nanoscale structures from a variety of materials. Read more here.
Steingart is also collaborating with battery company alpha-En and Mercedes Benz on energy storage research. More here.
In the journal Climatic Change, Catherine Peters co-wrote a paper that concluded that carbon capture and storage would not be prone to significant leakage or high costs related to fixing leaks. Read more here.

Faculty position open
The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment seeks a tenured, distinguished full or associate professor to provide leadership in the areas of sustainable energy technology development. Specific research areas of interest include long-term energy storage, smart and resilient cities, and energy-water nexus, with an emphasis on systems-level expertise.

The Andlinger Center invites applications for the Gerhard R. Andlinger Visiting Fellows Program, with start dates as early as February 2018. Applications from prospective visitors from a variety of backgrounds, including from academia, industry, government, and non-governmental organizations, are encouraged. Read more here.
