For our dinosaur enthusiasts out there - today (April 18) is National Velociraptor Day! Here's some information about our favorite feathered film stars:
Velociraptor comes from the Latin words for "speedy thief"
These ferocious little beasts were only about 6 ft. long and 33 lbs. as adults, on average
In 2007, researchers discovered that Velociraptors had feathers, and would probably seem like a funny-looking bird to us if they lived today
If the thought of our ancient dino pals gets you excited...you might try a 4-H Poultry project in the future, or even write a short story inspired by the life of a Velociraptor!
Have a ROAR-ing good week! Ashley Shufflebarger, Kody Orr, & Rachael Smith
