Family in our Latino
Congregation Needs Help
Dear ones in Christ:
It is a long-standing practice at St. Catherine’s to be generous in sharing what we have in support of our brothers and sisters in our Latino congregation. This week, we have an opportunity to do just that.
The Arellano family, kin to the Pérez family, has recently moved here from Washington. They have been able to get housing, but they need just about everything else to re-create their household as they settle into the area.
Two teenaged girls, MarÃa and Alma, will be sharing a room. They need twin beds (not bunkbeds), a dresser, sheets and blankets, and perhaps an accent piece or two. Their favorite colors are teal and black.
The boy, Fernando, already has a bed, but he needs a dresser to put his clothes in. He also likes Batman-themed stuff, and would like a Bat-man poster or print.
The parents, Enedina and Leopoldo - have a queen sized frame but no mattress or bedding. They need a bed (could be queen or king sized), sheets, and dresser to put their clothes in.
There is also a need for living room furniture, a kitchen table and chairs, dishes, flatware, and your basic kitchen utensils and appliances.
If you have gently used items that would help, please let me know by e-mail here. You can also make a cash donation so some of the items can be purchased for them. You can add it to the collection plate on Sunday - with a note that it is for the family or donate online here by credit card or PayPal. (there is a place to designate purpose).
Helping our congregation speaks to the love of others that we are called to live into. This week, we have a specific opportunity to do so. Please be generous so we can help the newest family in our Latino congregation have the home they need and deserve, and welcome them, and their children, as part of our parish family.
