Vicar’s Column

Welcome The Rev. Canon Angela Shepherd

One of our missional objectives as a congregation is facilitating dialogue amongst people with different experiences and backgrounds in ways that expand our understanding  of complex issues in ways that are inclusive and respectful.

With this objective in mind, I am delighted to invite you to attend a dialogue event with the Rev. Angela Shepherd, Canon for Mission for the Diocese of Maryland. Canon Angela serves with me on the Executive Council Commission on anti-Racism (ECCAR), representing Province III, and it has long been my hope that we could visit each other’s locations to create a deeper sense of understanding as to how we do our work.

Angela is a priest, social justice advocate, gospel based strategist, lover of God and God's people. Her position as Canon for Mission includes: encouraging and supporting congregations in their mission and outreach initiatives, convening the Public Policy team, organizing and co-chairing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that focuses on race relations, staff liaison to the Education task force, preaching in congregations, leading mutual ministry reviews and retreats.

Over the course of a three-day visit, Canon Angela will meet some of the communities and groups in our diocese, visit some of our churches, and also do some sight-seeing. I am delighted that she will be joining us in Manzanita on Saturday, June 4.

We will host a dialogue event at St. Catherine’s from 4-6 PM, followed by dinner at The Bunkhouse. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us, and I cordially invite all of you to attend and welcome her.

In Christ,
Patricia+

Yard Work Continues to End of June

As I mentioned at Sunday services, we plan on weekly yard work about the grounds that we hope will continue each Saturday until the end of June. Weather permitting we will meet for about two hours this Saturday at 9 AM. We will continue our work on the front berm. It would be greatly appreciated if you can make it.

Thank you to all of you who were able to attend this past weekend.

Blessings to you all,
Bill Larson

Yes! the Directory is coming!

We are in the final stages of pulling together a directory. There is a draft in the entry (foyer, narthex) at the Information Center. Please check or add your mailing and street address, phone number and email address. We would also like to have your birthdate for Congregational Care. We have these for most members but missing a few. You can also reply to this Tidings to send updates on your information or send an email to stcatherinemanzanita@gmail.com
