The Medibank hackers claim they demanded a $US9.7 million ($15.09 million) ransom not to release stolen customer information, as the health insurer blasted their latest data dump as a "malicious" attack on vulnerable Australians.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg lays off 11,000 staff amid faltering revenue and recession fears

Facebook's parent company Meta is laying off 11,000 people as it contends with faltering revenue and broader tech industry woes.Mr Zuckerberg said he had previously decided to hire aggressively as he anticipated rapid growth at Meta after the COVID pandemic ended. "Unfortunately, this did not play out the way I expected," he said in a statement.
