Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are moving our first session to the M.Rich building - two blocks away from Murmur. For those driving, there is a parking deck right next door and street parking, as well as the usual parking near Murmur. If you're taking MARTA, it is just around the corner from Five Points - walk south down Peachtree Street and make a left at MLK.

Monday, Feb. 5th at 7:00 pm

Discrit< ("critical discourse" / "discourse critique") is a new Murmur initiative of donation-based knowledge-sharing and discussion. A kind of “free critical theory course,” the program uses various texts and cultural artifacts to conduct seminar-style discussions covering a range of theoretical concerns indispensable in deciphering and decoding our current moment.

The first season of Discrit examines the question of the body and the 21st century, a subject we dissect through the complimentary lenses of contemporary feminism, digital media, biotechnology, cyborg theory, related artistic and activist practices of the new millennium. The online text "Xenofeminism" provides a starting point for our exploration.

While the conversations are open-ended and casual sessions will be facilitated by Joey Molina, Chris Fernald, and guest speakers.
