Australia’s new digital mental health gateway now live

As part of our over $4 billion annual investment in mental health, the Turnbull Government is today launching our new digital mental health gateway – Head to Health.

Head to Health is an essential tool for the one in five working age Australians who will experience a mental illness each year.

The website helps people take control of their mental health in a way they are most comfortable with and can complement face-to-face therapies.

Evidence shows that for many people, digital interventions can be as effective as face-to-face services.

Head to Health provides a one-stop shop for services and resources delivered by some of Australia’s most trusted mental health service providers.

People seeking help and support are encouraged to visit the website that benefits anyone wanting to learn more on how to maintain good mental health well-being.

ATHS Member Success Story: Kim Knight
Online consultations and self-help programs

For the past 8 years I have been providing remote health coaching and
online self-help programs for people with CFS, ME and fibromyalgia.

It started unintentionally in 2009 when a 74 year old lady, too sick to
travel, asked me to coach her by phone. Initially I was sceptical, but it
was immediately equally effective. Since 2015 100% of my consultations
have been online and I have worked with clients in USA, Europe, Singapore,
India, UAE, Australia, New Zealand and more.

In 2011 I branched into online webinars and events, running two online
multi-speaker summits, one of which was nominated for a New Zealand Health
Excellence Award. From there I moved into online self-help programs and I
presented at HINZ 2016, winning a ‘best paper’ award after sharing how an
88 year old lady recovered in 6 months from 50 years of debilitating
fatigue and depression after taking herself through an online program.

My healthcare business is now fully online. It has been a huge learning
curve getting to grips with technology, but this seems to be the way of
the world!
