Safety in Uganda

Being currently in the peak of the tourism season, we host thousands of visitors in all our national parks. However, we realize that some may hesitate to visit Uganda due to possible travel advisories or the outbreak of Ebola.

We would like to assure everybody who has arrived in, or intends to travel to, Uganda of utmost security and safety in the country.

For the latest updates on safety and security in Uganda please visit our News Page with links to the official press releases from the Ugandan government and Uganda Tourism Board.

Safari testimonial

In March 2014, Great Lakes Safaris hosted a number of British and South African tour operators on a Familiarization trip in Uganda. This is how one of the participants reflect their tour:

"I just wanted to say an enormous THANK YOU - for organising and hosting an unforgettable trip for us. The group we had was fun, and I believe we made lifelong friends in the process! But this was due to the beauty of your country, the varied experiences that we enjoyed and the fact that throughout the trip we were looked after by our trusty guide Peter. He is a tribute to your company and was a complete deal maker with all on the trip.

Trekking the chimps and gorillas created memories that we will all treasure for our lifetime. I can't believe I've been home for four days - part of me stayed back in Uganda... Thanks again!"
