Nottingham Hackspace

Hi everyone!

It might be getting colder, but it's also time to get your holiday making starting up.  Whether you're laser cutting decorations, soldering up some lights, or knitting some stockings, the space is the place for making all sorts of neat things!

Have you left something at the space?

Hackspace members have been busily sorting out the Large Project Storage, and there were plenty of projects that didn't have names attached to them.

These poor orphan projects want to come back to their owners!

The lovely people who have been working on Large Project Storage have put up a photo gallery of unnamed projects, and have moved them all towards the Donation Area in the back.

If you think one of those projects is yours, come claim it! You can put it back into Large Project Storage, if you properly write it up on the sheets and make sure it's all marked up. Or if you don't really want to keep it, just move it closer to the Donation Area!

All of these abandoned projects will move into the Donation Area on Wednesday, 3 December, so you have a month to make sure you claim your project!

For more information, please see Sophie's post about the Large Project Storage. And give these projects a good home!

We're getting an Ultimaker!

In the last newsletter, we said that we were having a pledge drive to get an Ultimaker Original+ as well as upgrading the existing RepRap to take SD cards and different extruders. Well, we've made our pledges, and we're getting our printer!

The Ultimaker Original will be shipped at the end of November, and we should have it up and running in December. If you pledged, then you should have received an email asking you for your pledge, but if you're not sure, you can check the wiki.

All the fun of the Mini Maker Faire!

The third annual Derby Mini Maker Faire was the biggest yet, with 2,500 visitors across the two days.

And as usual, the Hackspace was there - with our stand showing off lots of projects, including the cherry dispenser from Barbot, Spencer's Jar Jarduino, clocks, knitting, and much more! Matt Little's Marble Run was there too, and Jake and Hannah Howe each had their own stand.

This year was a little different than previous Mini Maker Faires, with Saturday being the large public display of amazing things, but with Sunday being a day of workshops and talks, including an excellent Arduino workshop.

It was great to see a lot of the usual suspects, with Derby Makers' rope-making machine and soldering workshops as busy as ever, and plenty of people took the opportunity to laser cut their names at Just Add Sharks. York Hackspace and Barnsley.IO made the trip down, and HackHitchin brought their Bighak - a BigTrak large enough to drive around!

Coming soon - Maker Faire 2015!

The dates for Maker Faire have been announced! The big event up in Newcastle will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 April.

The Maker Faire is the place to show off and see amazing things, and you better believe Nottingham Hackspace will be there. We hope you will be too!
