Mayor Won Soon Park Delivers ICLEI Commitment at the High Level Action Day
Over the weekend, the ICLEI Declaration to the Ministers at COP21 was unanimously adopted at the Joint Meeting of ICLEI Council and ICLEI Global Executive Committee at Paris City Hall. Won Soon Park, Mayor of Seoul and President of ICLEI delivered this commitment at the High Level Action Day at COP21 on 5 December. Mayor Park reminded cities across the world to think globally and act locally in the path toward sustainability, following the commitments set forth in the ICLEI Declaration and the example of Seoul as a pioneer of sustainability.

GEF Session on Innovative Finance for Urban Resilience 
In this event at 16:00 on Tuesday, 8 December, panelists will discuss some of the key questions related to financing urban resilience, including the challenges of securing funding for adaptation, harmonizing diverse urban development objectives, and structuring different streams of finance for supporting resilient development in cities.

“Procuring Sustainably, Leading Globally” – First Annual Summit of The Global Lead City Network On Sustainable Procurement
Participants in the Global Lead City Network on Sustainable Procurement (GLCN on SP) convened on Saturday 5 December at the COP21 to celebrate their first annual Summit in the Cities & Regions Pavilion – TAP2015. Ten cities presented their sustainable procurement activities and commitments and shared their knowledge and experience with peers.

Copenhagen is striving to be the first carbon neutral city in the world, and is well on the way toward this goal, with a 40% per capita drop in greenhouse gas emissions since 2005. A panel convened on 5 December at the Cities & Regions Pavilion discussed Copenhagen’s progress toward carbon neutrality and the secrets of its success.

EcoMobility: Actions Speak Louder Than Words

On Saturday, 5 December, six visionary city leaders came together in the Cities & Regions Pavilion to discuss the advancement of ecomobility in their cities. Johannesburg, Oslo, Sydney, New York, Milan, Bogotá and Kaohsiung explained how they are encouraging citizens to move away from personal automobiles and more regularly walk and cycle.

On 7 December the Urban-LEDS project, implemented by ICLEI and UN-Habitat and financed by the European Commission, held an official side event in the EU Pavilion in the presence of the heads of each organization and a panel of mayors involved in the project.

On 7 December 2015, ICLEI and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) cohosted a Blue Zone side event on behalf of the Compact of Mayors Management Committee. The event provided a forum through which Compact committed and compliant cities could report on their achievements and update negotiators on Compact activities.
