Updates from ICLEI's Global Sustainability Network
Edition #24 April 2015

Won Soon Park
President, ICLEI

Dear ICLEI Friends and Colleagues,

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new ICLEI President! Thank you to all ICLEI Members for electing me to this prestigious post.

Now is a wonderful time to take up the position of ICLEI President. Seoul has just hosted the ICLEI World Congress 2015, which was a huge success. Over 2,500 people participated in the Congress, and we all emerged with increased optimism and ambition for our sustainability projects.

As President of ICLEI, I hope to contribute to the sharing of knowledge, visions and best practices from city to city and from region to region. It is our job to take the successes of our Members and make them a reality in every location.

In this context, I am pleased to promote and invite you to two major upcoming events: Resilient Cities 2015 and Metropolitan Solutions 2015. Taking place in Bonn and Berlin respectively, these events will bring together experts, practitioners and business leaders to find new ways of making cities resilient and of strengthening city-business cooperation.

Later in the year, I am greatly looking forward to the second EcoMobility World Festival during the month of October in Johannesburg, South Africa; and, of course, to working with you at the COP21 in Paris in December, where we will together launch and present ICLEI’s new Transformative Actions Program.

I look forward to following many similar events over the course of my Presidency. Let’s build on the momentum of our inspiring World Congress and look ahead to the COP21 in December.

With kind regards,

Won Soon Park
President, ICLEI; Mayor of Seoul
