Resilient Cities September Update
Resilient Cities 2019 Call for Contributions now open!

The call for contributions for the 2019 congress is now open and welcomes proposals for various formats, including presentations, panels, workshops, and debates. An overview of the formats is available here

A core objective of the Resilient Cities congress series is to serve as the global resilience implementation forum. To advance this goal, the special anniversary edition of  Resilient Cities 2019 will focus on:
  • Paving the way for resilience: research, cooperation, planning, finance and implementation;
  • Advancing resilience, especially on efficient resource management, natural and cultural heritage protection and food systems;
  • Innovation for resilience: digitalization, nature-based solutions, adaptive infrastructure, tinkering and blockchain;
  • Building resilient societies, focusing on forced migration, resettlement, inclusion, social cohesion and citizens' voluntary emergency response.
Congress themes also include current and pressing issues such as managing climate-related health risks, leveraging social capital, and evidence-based adaptation planning. Check the detailed list of new themes here.

Don’t miss the chance to shape the program of this global event on urban resilience! Submit your contribution until 2 November 2018.

Monika Zimmermann towards new challenges

Monika Zimmermann has stepped down from her role as Deputy Secretary General at ICLEI after more than 25 years of her dedicated work. Click here to see how she helped build ICLEI into the organization it is today.

“One of the things that is so valuable about ICLEI is that we understand what needs to be handled locally and what needs to be handled at a global level, and how relevant the cooperation of all political levels is ... [This] has always been one of ICLEI’s key distinctions.”

Monika Zimmermann, ICLEI former Deputy Secretary General
