Universal Paid Leave & $15 Minimum Wage:

Details, Timeline & Possible Impacts

Did you know that on December 2, the DC Council Committee of the Whole will hold a public hearing on the Universal Paid Leave Act of 2015 (B21-415)?
Before the COW hearing, get informed by attending CNHED's Monthly Meeting this Thursday, November 19 through an interactive discussion on
  1. DC’s Universal Paid Leave legislation -- presented by At-Large DC Councilmember Elissa Silverman.    * Councilmember Silverman and Councilmember Grosso led five other councilmembers in introducing the DC Paid Family Leave legislation
  2. the $15 minimum wage ballot initiative â€“ presented by Delvone Michael, Director of the Washington, DC chapter of Working Families.
Get answers to questions like:
  • How might these proposals, if implemented, impact DC residents and our community development field?
  • What are the costs to employers? And how could they affect small businesses?
  • Who would be covered under paid leave?
  • How do these compare to what’s happening around the country – and specifically Maryland and Virginia?
*Note that CNHED has not taken a position on either initiative.
