Councilmember Muriel Bowser has spoken up for affordable housing -- now she has a chance to ensure DC invests in it.
Here at CNHED’s Housing for All Campaign, we know DC needs to invest at least $100 million annually in the Housing Production Trust Fund to keep this city affordable, and Councilmember Bowser says she agrees with us. Now she has an opportunity to make this a reality.
Mayor Gray’s budget only provides $70 million for housing this year, but as chair of the Council’s Committee on Economic Development, Councilmember Bowser has the opportunity to lead the Council to invest the full $100 million we need.
Email Councilmember Bowser and encourage her to be a leader for housing by committing $100 million to the Housing Production Trust Fund this year.
The Housing Production Trust Fund is crucial to ensuring District residents live in homes they can afford. With $100 million in the Trust Fund, we could keep families in homes they can afford and out of shelters, help renters become homeowners, end chronic homelessness, and invest in the rapidly decreasing amount of high-quality affordable housing that our community needs. We have the tools to make housing for all a reality, but we need a leader who will stand up and use those tools. Can you email Councilmember Bowser right now and ask her to be that leader?
