We don't get much snow in Florida.
But our white boxers sure snow how to bring the warmth home for winter!

There really is nothing like a white winter!
Does your boxer jump? FBR's trainer, Maureen Henderson, can help!

Maureen has volunteered for FBR for four years and is a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT). When she isn't doing behavior evaluations or modifications for owner surrenders, fosters and newly adopted FBR boxers, or playing with her six dogs, she's a Registered Nurse in the operating room of a hospital.

Here are a few tips Maureen says can help modify the jumping behavior:
  • When visitors come through the door and greet the boxer, make it a low-key greeting.
  • Have the visitor ignore the jumping, don't look at or talk to the dog, and keep moving away.
  • If jumping continues, go behind a closed door and try again in a few seconds.
  • You can also teach the dog to sit and stay until a visitor is inside. Then tell the dog when he/she is allowed to say hello.
  • Remember a behavior may get worse before it improves as the dog becomes frustrated. But stay strong and consistent!
Always remember that boxers are very energetic breeds who need proper exercise. You don't want them finding their own ways to entertain themselves!

And a big THANK YOU to Maureen for all of her help with FBR! Let us know if you'd like to enlist Maureen to assist in curbing your pup's bad behaviors!
