Welcome to April - a month where we have all transitioned to a new way of living and working. Our team are busy working from home to support our partners and community to help us all get through the months ahead. We've shifted our essential project partnerships online and postponed the others. You will see our website has been updated with a new COVID-19 page to house a suite of new FREE resources that our team have developed. These are designed to support your work, your clients and your community. We are working hard to support our partners in the most meaningful way we can - by working together. Please be kind to each other, support each other and seek support where you need. Reach out to the team if there's something we can help with.
The PCP website has been updated with a new COVID-19 page providing evidence based links and resources for easy access to our partners and community. Locally developed resources are being added to this page weekly.
The website will updated regularly, however due to the daily changes occurring, please continue to monitor www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus for the most up to date source of information.
The South Coast Prevention Team are working hard to support our health services, our partner organisations and the wider community. Each week the team are developing helpful tip sheets using a kindness message - be kind to yourself, be kind to your community, be kind to your colleagues, family and friends. These resources can be downloaded from the PCP website or shared via our Facebook page.
The COVID-19 Plan for the Victorian Community Services Sector is designed to enable the ongoing provision of vital services to vulnerable and disadvantaged Victorians.
The COVID-19 Plan for the Victorian Community Services Sectorprovides guidance to the community services sector for Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Four Stage Pandemic Response. It should be read in conjunction with sector specific plans. As more information becomes known about COVID-19 and its impacts on the community, this plan will be updated and re-circulated.
Please view the plan online, as any printed copies may be superseded by newer versions online.
Talking to children about COVID-19
A member of the PCP team recently used this free resource - a short book - for talking to her children about COVID-19: "She (my daughter) felt a lot more relieved and more informed about it without feeling overwhelmed and the things she could do to help." It might help your children too. It's downloadable as a PDF in many different languages.
From the author - Manuela Molina
Dear families and educator all over the world,
I have created this short book to support and reassure our children, under the age of 7, regarding the COVID-19. This book is an invitation for families to discuss the full range of emotions arising from the current situation. It is important to point out that this resource does not seek to be a source of scientific information, but rather a tool based on fantasy. My recommendation is to print this material so children can draw on it. Remember that emotions are processed through repetitive play and stories read multiple times. Share COVIBOOK and help ease kiddo's anxiety all over the world.
With love,
Manuela Molina - the author

Victorian Volunteer Strategy
Did you The Victorian Government has committed to develop and implement a Volunteer Strategy to support and enhance volunteerism in Victoria.
Volunteers are a vital part of Victoria’s social, economic, cultural and environmental fabric, and deliver immense value to Victoria – for communities, places and individuals
While Victoria is home to a vibrant culture of giving, volunteers and volunteering are changing. For volunteering to thrive into the future it requires both a bold vision and practical approaches.
