Price Hill Thrill/ Weston Art Gallery's Annual Studio Tour

Tiger Lily Press will be part of the Weston Art Gallery's annual studio tour on Sunday, May 17, which will take ticket holders on an adventurous trek through the undiscovered artist studios, gallery spaces, creative work environments and eco-friendly organizations of Lower, East and West neighborhoods of Price Hill. Cincinnati Book Arts Society, Peg Rhein/Terrapin Paper Mill and Art for Artists will fill the schoolhouse building with art along with TLP for the afternoon. TLP Artist in Residence Jonpaul Smith has created a linoleum print available for purchase. Afterwards, ticket holders will flow over to the Art Center at Dunham (Tiger Lily's old home and current home of Sunset Players Theater group) for an early evening reception of food, drinks and music in the Theater. 
Tickets for the event are $35 which includes access to all of the tour sites, shuttle service, and food, drink, and entertainment at the reception that follows the tours from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dunham Arts Center. To reserve a ticket, contact the Weston Art Gallery. Or purchase tickets the day of the event at the Dunham Arts Center.

Collagraph Printmaking
 Thursdays,  June  4, 11, 18 and 25         6:00 – 8:30 pm
Instructor: April Foster
Make your own printing plates with ordinary materials. Using cardboard, paper, textured fabrics, modeling paste and acrylic medium, students will create multiple plates, which can be printed alone or in layers. Rich surfaces and textures can create imagery both representational and abstract.  Plates may be inked intaglio or relief, in an edition or as one of a kind in black and white or color.

One Day Introduction to Relief Printing
Thursday,  August 6         10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Instructor: Julie Lonneman
Students will create an image, transfer to linoleum plate, and learn to carve, ink and print their image. Students will complete a take away print during this one day introduction to relief printmaking at the TLP studio. All materials provided.

Introduction to Screen Printing
Saturdays,  August  1, 8, 15          2:00 – 4:00 pm
Instructor: Tory Keith
Screen printing, one of the most versatile of the printmaking methods, enables you to print a variety of images onto nearly anything. This class is open to all skill levels and no experience is necessary. Students will learn to prepare, process, and print a one color screen print design. Digital and non- digital methods of creating images will be demonstrated. All materials provided with exception of print paper and other non- traditional printing surfaces such as fabric and more.

Non-Toxic Lithography
September 9, 16, 23 and 30         6:00 – 8:30 pm
Instructor: Jay Harriman
This class introduces a new approach to making lithograph prints. Prior printmaking experience is helpful but not required. Students will learn to create and print a polyester plate using lithography techniques on an etcher’s press. Students provide original drawings, pen and ink, ink washes or black and white digital imagery to use as subject matter. All printmaking materials provided.

Broadsides: Say it with Letterpress
Saturdays: October 3, 10, 17 and 24        12:30 – 3:00 pm
Instructor: April Foster
Using the TLP Vandercook Proof Press, the basics of type set-up and printing will be demonstrated. Students will learn setting type, spacing, locking up on the press and printing. Students should design a 9” x 12” broadside or card with a saying, quote, or aphorism to be handset and printed. Decorative elements can be incorporated into the layout. Students will print up to ten copies of their broadside.
