Documentary Film to show at Camp Hancock State Historic Site
BISMARCK - The documentary film, Cultivation Along the Northern Pacific Railroad will be shown at Camp Hancock State Historic Site in Bismarck on July 11 at 3 p.m. This 30 minute film is free and open to the public. Camp Hancock is located at 101 East Main Avenue, Bismarck.
Bismarck film maker Kris McConnachie is proud to present a documentary exploring Bismarck and North Dakota's early farming industry. Following the 2014 “Capital in Farm Country” historic walking tour that was hosted by the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation, this documentary explores issues that came into play during the start of modern North Dakota farming. Building the Northern Pacific Railroad, political corruption, and farming insights passed down by the Mandan and Hidatsa are some of the topics discussed in the film. The showing will be followed by a short question and answer discussion including time for viewers to share their own stories and insights into the history of Bismarck and North Dakota.
The documentary was produced with support from the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation, the State Historical Society of North Dakota, the Bismarck Historical Society, Dakota Media Access Television, and the Bismarck Public Library.
