Children’s and Adult Events at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site

FORT ABERCROMBIE – The public is invited to participate in the many August events planned at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site near Fargo and Wahpeton. The Sunday History Program continues with programs on Aug. 7 and 14 featuring a variety of speakers and historic topics.
 
The Junior Soldier’s Program continues on Aug. 1, 8, and 15 with games, stories, and activities for children of all ages. This free program is held on Mondays through Aug. 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. Fort Abercrombie staff member Barbara Myhre leads the program.
 
The public is invited to attend the Friends of Fort Abercrombie Appreciation Day on Aug. 7. A history program at 2 p.m. will highlight the group’s accomplishments at the fort in past years. A cake and coffee reception will follow the program 2:30-4 p.m. Those interested in becoming members of the Friends group are welcomed to sign up at this event.  
 
Fort Abercrombie is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Summer hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
