Online North Dakota Studies Grade 8 Curriculum Receives Recognition
BISMARCK—In the annual technology competition of the Mountain Plains Museum Association, the State Historical Society of North Dakota recently placed first in the “Online Presence” category for North Dakota: People Living on the Land—a new grade 8 North Dakota studies curriculum.
This is the second recognition the State Historical Society of North Dakota has received for North Dakota: People Living on the Land. In June, the American Association for State and Local History recognized the new grade 8 North Dakota studies course and awarded its 2015 Award of Merit for this new multimedia project. The Award of Merit is presented for excellence in history programs, projects, and people.
The curriculum is used in schools throughout the state and is free to the public at ndstudies.gov/gr8. Students can learn about the geography, history, government, current issues, and citizenship of North Dakota. The program also offers resources on the people, places, events, and fascinating history of North Dakota.
Established in 1953, Mountain Plains Museum Association is a regional museum association providing services to museum professionals in 10 states: Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.
