Home Movie Celebration at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum
BISMARCK – A free program, “Exploring Home Movies of North Dakota” will be hosted by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Al Larvick Conservation Fund (ALCF) on Aug. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. This is one of three events supported by the Larvick funds to showcase a selection of home movies from the state and the Al Larvick film collection.
From 6 to 7 p.m., participants will view examples of consumer film and video formats, and receive information on caring and maintaining analog and digital home movie assets from 6-7 p.m. Experts will be available during this time to answer questions about visitor’s home movies and to assist with completing the Al Larvick North Dakota Grant which opens for submissions on Aug. 29. The 7 p.m. screenings will include newly transferred films from past decades, which reflect various areas and communities of North Dakota. Presenters and speakers include Shane Molander, deputy state archivist, State Historical Society of North Dakota; Kirsten Larvick; Shari Huettl of The Memory Preserve (Bismarck event); and Tamera Kapaun of TK Design (West Fargo event). 2015 ALCF grantees, Stephanie Kom and Carol Renner are invited to speak about their material as well.
Free public movie celebrations will be held in Valley City on Aug. 30 at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum and in West Fargo on Aug. 31 at Bonanzaville, Cass County Historical Society beginning at 6 p.m. RSVP at allarvickfund.eventbrite.com.
