Whitestone Hill Education Day Activities Planned

Kulm, N.D. - On Wednesday, Sept. 7, the annual Education Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Whitestone Hill State Historic Site located near Kulm, Edgeley, and Ellendale. Programs are targeted to third and fourth grade students studying North Dakota history, but all students are invited to attend.  Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and water.

The free event will have several learning stations focusing on prairie plants, geology, geography, archaeology, trees on the prairie, and water sheds, as well as a leather-working demo and tipi-raising activity.

Whitestone Hill State Historic Site is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. It can be reached by traveling from Kulm south 12 miles on North Dakota State Highway 56, then east four miles on a gravel road, then north nearly two miles to the site. The site features a small museum, two monuments, an adjacent park, and picnic and recreational facilities. The site is open through Sept. 15.
