Museum Lab Program Explores Basic Block Printing for School-Age Kids

BISMARCK –Children in grades K-12 can now register for “Museum Lab: Block Printing” on April 16 at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. This free program will explore the basics of simple block printing, similar to stamping, with a focus on using recycled materials and things found around the house.

Museum Lab—part science lab, part DIY garage—connects science, technology, art, and history with everyday experiences and an atmosphere of experimentation. Students explore how historians use real-world problems and authentic objects to anchor modern issues in a historical context. They will learn how historians, scientists, and artists work together to spark new ideas and deepen their understanding of content.

Sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota, future “Museum Lab” programs will explore several topics including leather making projects, gardening, and plants and animals of North Dakota.

Register at museumed.eventbrite.com. For more information, or to discuss any allergy or accessibility concerns, contact Danielle "Dani" Stuckle at dlstuckle@nd.gov or 701.328.2794. Find more upcoming programs of the State Historical Society of North Dakota at history.nd.gov/events.
