State Archives Offers Behind-the-Scenes Tours at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum
BISMARCK, N.D. - The public is invited to free behind-the-scenes tours of the State Archives in the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum on Tuesday, Oct. 8, with tour times of 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 a.m. and 2, 3, and 4 p.m.
Participants will tour the North Dakota State Archives' collections space, see where and how collections are stored, and learn about collection and preservation processes. These walking tours are limited to 10 people per time slot and will last about 30 minutes. All areas are ADA accessible. Sign up for this free event at archives-behind-the-scenes.eventbrite.com.
This program is offered in honor of American Archives Month. American Archives Month was established by the Society of American Archivists in 2006 to increase public awareness of the importance of archives and preserving historic documents and records.
The State Archives is a division of the State Historical Society of North Dakota and is located in the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. The State Archives is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and the second Saturday of each month, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, visit history.nd.gov/archives.
