Panjwani-Hisaar Water Institute Ground Breaking Ceremony – 4 May 2018, Karachi, Pakistan.

A ground breaking ceremony for Panjwani-Hisaar Water Foundation took place on the 4th of May 2018 at NED Karachi Campus where the institute will be located. This initiative was to address the shortage of water professionals in the country. 

The ceremony was attended by representatives from various sectors including banks, multinational organizations, businesses, NGOs and industries highlighting that water is integral for the growth across all sectors of the economy.

Presentation of United Nations World Water Development Report 2018 – 10thApril 2018, Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The Central Asian Regional Water Network CAR@WAN together with the UNESCO cluster office presented the annual United Nations World Water Development Report. The presentation was made during the World Water Day on the 10th of April 2018 in Almaty (Kazakhstan) with the aim to discuss water resources matters and draw general attention to the utilisation of natural-based solutions.

The event was attended by a total of 92 participants ranging from representatives from national and international organizations, educational and research centres, non-governmental organizations, as well as independent experts and mass media.

2nd International Conference and 4th National Environment Conference 2018 – 17 to 19 October 2018, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 2nd International Conference and 4th National Environment Conference 2018 will take place from 17th to 19th of October 2018 at the National University of the Center of the Province of Buenos Aires (Tandil). 

The objectives are to disseminate the scientific and/or technological advances with the active participation of the assistants in the form of oral presentations of scientific articles; exchange experiences, documents and knowledge about the environment; promote a space for meeting, communication and debate on priority environmental issues at the national level and present disciplinary and interdisciplinary research; reflect on the environmental paradigms, their keys and challenges for the different actors and particularly the University; disseminate policies and programs of public and private institutions oriented to the management of sustainable development, and promote a meeting space for students of environmental sciences, which promotes the exchange of knowledge and debate on priority environmental issues.

This conference will be conducted in Spanish. The deadline for sending extended summaries is 16th of June 2018.

Call for Application: 2019 IWC Master Scholarships (International).

The application for the 2019 IWC Master Scholarships (International) for the Master of Integrated Water Management (MIWM) program is now open. This prestigious award is granted each year to international students and includes:

  • Type A: Up to two full tuition and full living costs scholarships (each valued at AUD92,645AUD including tuition fees and living costs); or 
  • Type B: One full tuition scholarship and flights (valued at AUD56,739) (Return air travel is now included in Type B Scholarships). 

Applications will close on 1 August 2018.

Machakos road water harvesters

Meet inspiring individuals from Machakos, Kenya who are building trenches that channel excess runoff from the roads during the rainy season, to their farms. This makes extra water available at the farm and, at the same time, minimizes water damage to the (mostly unpaved) roads.
