Cap-Net and partners finalise manual on Human Rights-Based Approach to IWRM

Cap-Net UNDP, together with WaterLex, the Water Governance Facility, and REDICA, have finalised the training manual on Human Rights-Based Approach to Integrated Water Resources Management. The manual brings together two fields that until recently have been separate: human rights and IWRM. You can read more and download the manual by following the link below.

Launch of Recommendations for Pakistan’s National Water Policy Framework by Cap-Net Pakistan

Cap-Net Pakistan held a launch event in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Friday 27th January 2017 to disseminate the “Recommendations for Pakistan’s National Water Policy Framework” for the consideration of the government. The event participants included heads of water agencies, government, donor, NGO and business community representatives, media and diplomats. Annual National Forum on Water Security Arranged by MyCDNet in Malaysia

MyCDNet held its first ever Annual National Forum on Water Security on 23 – 24 November 2016 in Malaysia. Titled “Adaptation to Hazards Related to Climate Change”, the forum was organized together with partners including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) and Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), and with support from CapNet UNDP. Cap-Net UNDP Welcomes Sofia Kac
Sofia Kac has joined the Cap-Net UNDP secretariat as an Intern. Sofia has recently finished a M.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering at the Technical University of Lund, Sweden. Her earlier experience include working with water in Maputo, Mozambique.

AGUASAN arranges workshop on circular economy
AGUASAN's 33rd workshop is titled “Circular economy – transforming waste into resources” and will focus on exchanging and generating knowledge to assist participants in transitioning from linear to circular water and sanitation models. Mega Irrigation Systems

Over the past 2-3 decades, the focus of national governments, international organizations, NGOs, researchers, and farmers themselves has shifted towards small-scale systems. This shift is organic and often necessary. However, it has come at the cost of falling investments in the operation and maintenance of mega irrigation systems, even though they continue to be some of the biggest agricultural water users.
