UBC announces Marcelo Castello Branco as new CEO
Rio de Janeiro, January 14, 2016 - UniÃ£o Brasileira de Compositores (UBC), the Brazilian leader in music rights management, today announced that the Board of Directors has named Marcelo Castello Branco the new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1st, 2016. Castello Branco will succeed UBCâ€™s current CEO, Marisa Gandelman, who was appointed International Relations Officer and will actively participate in the transition to new leadership.
â€œMarisa has been key to build a better road to success and to efficiency, and she is still with us on this journey. Marcelo loves what he does, he is very sensitive to music and to the creators' needs. He knows not only about numbers, but also about art. His experience in the digital world and in foreign markets will enrich our activities" says Sandra de SÃ¡, UBC's President.
Marcelo Castello Brancoâ€™s background makes him uniquely qualified to lead UBC. A 30-year veteran of the music industry, he has helped the Brazilian music industry to grow within the country and abroad, particularly in South America, Spain and Portugal. He has also lead companies and artists to overcome the barriers and make profit in the digital environment and new business models. Marcelo has acted as President at Universal Music Brasil, Southern Cone and Iberian Peninsula, and at EMI Music Brasil, South and Central America. He is also the vice-chairman of the Latin Grammy's Board.

UBC â€“ Brazilian Union of Composers is a non-profit organization for the collective management of music rights of Brazilian and foreign creators, publishers, performers and producers. It's main purposes is to defend their members interests, distributing author rights and developing cultural activities. UBC is a private entity and it's Board of Directors is composed by authors, namely Sandra de SÃ¡ (President), Abel Silva, Aloysio Reis, Geraldo Vianna, Manno GÃ³es, Manoel Nenzinho Pinto and Ronaldo Bastos.
