Kneemail from Saint James Church

22 June 2021 AD

Drink this Cup

This Kneemail is going out earlier than normal to make a very important announcement.

Bishop Sumner, after consultation with his medical advisors, has released a letter authorizing that on 4 July Rectors will have the authority to determine if, and how, the Eucharistic Wine is offered in their parishes.

On that day we will return to the customary use at St. James' Church, under the following rubric:

“The Blood of Christ is offered via a “common cup” for those who desire to receive. The conscience of each believer is the best guide as to whether to receive from the cup or to receive Holy Communion in one species only.  The teaching of the Church is that the fullness of Grace in the Sacrament is not dependent upon the species in which it is received.”

I am very happy that we will be able to share the fullness of the Sacramental fellowship again.

May God bless each of you!
