The Art of Two People Becoming One
Muddy lessons and teamwork
Have you ever watched “Amazing Race"?
I don’t watch it often but there have been a few times I’ve caught myself on the couch curious about what was going on.
I remember thinking about how great it would be to do the race with my wife
, but then I continued watching and noticed the different teams and the tension between them at the highest moments of stress. At that point I wondered if maybe I wouldn’t want my tense marriage moments on screen for the whole world to see.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that my marriage is full of tension
but there are moments that can be pretty messy and anxiety filled.
On the other hand, there are times where those rough spots are exactly what should be shown to the world. We need to be showing others, and particularly our kids, that arguments happen and that they can be worked out. After all, how else will they learn to deal with disagreements by seeing compromise and unselfish expressions of putting each other first?
We have a Podcast
