Discover our new video!

With the 20th edition of the Vertical Workshop, entitled "Doggy Bag: The Reuse of Discarded Resources", the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture aims to promote the recycling of objects and their raw materials and give discarded furniture or objects a second life through use by disadvantaged groups. The 2016 Vertical Workshop is also part of “#Superillapilot”, a horizontal action organised by the Confederation of Architectural Project Workshops (CTPA) in efforts to spark reflection on public space.

José Luis Cisneros

Interview with José Luis Cisneros

Born in Barcelona (1982), Cisneros graduated in 2005 with a degree in Architecture from the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture. He earned a Master’s Degree in the Theory and Practice of Architectural Design in 2011 from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Early in his career, he worked alongside prestigious architect Josep Lluis Mateo at MAP Architects (2005-2008). He now runs his own studio, Agora Arquitectura, with Joan Casals.

The Shanghai experience

The Shanghai experience, from a student perspective

A sense of curiosity about how urbanism works on the other side of the world and a desire to explore new frontiers led the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, at the request of Bambuspace Design Shanghai Ltd., to take part in the “Focusing on Reality” workshop in Shanghai, along with the Hongkou regional council in Shanghai.

R_Urban Hubs: Questioning the Boundaries of 21st-Century Barcelona

This project presents a critical stance on the regeneration of peri-urban spaces in the metropolitan region of Barcelona. Transformation of these spaces into places with their own identity calls for the renovation of conventional methodological and conceptual frameworks of architectural practice.

New intensive course “Construction in Wood”
 

New intensive course “Construction in Wood”

The UIC Barcelona School of Architecture has organised a new course entitled Construction in Wood, an intensive course about current wood construction systems. The aim is, by analysing real cases, to provide students practical information about the possibilities of building with wood, the different types and systems and the manufacturing process.

Open to students from years three through five, from all universities.
