Dear Friends of Swift,

You are receiving this e-newsletter because at some point over the past 3 years since Friends of Swift began, you have supported Swift through volunteering, donating and supporting the staff and students of Swift School. Friends of Swift is in the process of defining its role within the school and we need your help. I am forming a committee of parents, teachers, staff and community members to help officially establish a board and apply for our 501(c)3 status this summer. Are you interested in serving on this committee to better define Friends of Swift? If so, please email me to learn more about our first meeting in June. Thank you for taking the time to consider this committee and please check out the opportunities below. Swift is an amazing school and I'm glad you're a part of it!
Sincerely,

Dori H. Gorman
Friends of Swift Director

BEVERAGE VOLUNTEERS ⎥Friday, June 10 & Saturday, June 11

We have another incredible opportunity to raise money for Friends of Swift this year at Midsommarfest. For every volunteer that we provide to serve beer at Andersonville's street festival on Clark Street, Swift School receives a percentage of the sales! Last year we were able to make over $1000 for the school. That's where YOU come in! We need volunteers to SIGN UP TO SERVE BY TUESDAY, MAY 31. There are three different shifts to choose from:
  • Friday, June 10 from 4:30PM to 7:15PM
  • Friday, June 10 from 7PM to 10PM
  • Saturday, June 11 from 6PM to 10PM).
Sign up HERE to reserve your time slot and we'll email you more information about where to check in on the day of the event.  All volunteers will receive a free Midsommarfest t-shirt and 2 free drink tokens (for after your shift - ha!).

PIVOT ARTS COMMUNITY CELEBRATION⎥Saturday, June 4

Saturday, June 4 is a big day for Swift School. Swift's PAC Rummage Sale will take place in the cafeteria from 9AM to 4PM - stop by to shop and support the school! June 4th is also the day of the 2nd Annual Pivot Arts Community Celebration on the Swift playground. Starting with puppet making at 12:30PM, students, parents and community members are invited to join the parade along Winthrop Ave to Ardmore and back up Broadway beginning at 1:30PM. Then at 2PM everyone is invited to enjoy performances on the playground from various local artistic groups including our very own Swift students! If you'd like to help set up for this event on Friday, June 3 from 5PM to 7PM please email Dori today!

AUDITORIUM UPDATE⎥Construction Starts this Summer!

We are excited to announce that thanks to several generous donors, the auditorium chairs and carpet will be replaced this summer! Students will return in the fall of 2016 to a newly renovated auditorium. With phase 2 complete, our next goal will be to begin phase 3, which includes a new screen, lighting updates, and audio/visual equipment. If you'd like to give a donation to help us start phase 3, please  email friendsofswift@gmail.com to find out how you can give today!
