FALL NEWS

It’s been an awesome and full fall here at Eyesfull headquarters. I just returned from Amsterdam where I schmoozed (aka stalked) with the big wigs at IDFA and proudly showed off Driving with Selvi. We're getting close to completion, with editor Dave Kazala crafting what is going to be a very compelling documentary.

I’m getting a little tired of self promotion (facebook, twitter), but I have to tell you that I’m pleased as punch and pretty darn proud that I was awarded a post-production grant from Chicken & Egg Pictures. I’m also very excited to have been invited to Mumbai for the Good Pitch² India where I’ll be developing the film's outreach campaign and presenting my film to an audience of NGOs and potential partners.

More travel took me to Oaxaca this fall for a week of research and location scouting for my 2014 photo tour. Lynda Wilde and our guide Pablo, who will both be joining us on our photographic journey,  graciously sent me in all sorts of directions, and accompanied me into the wilds. This 2014 Day of the Dead tour is going to be fantastico!

Don't forget that my documentary Embracing Voices is screening at the Revue Cinema in Toronto on Dec. 5th.  It’s a huge event which will celebrate “Local Hero” Jane Bunnett on screen and on stage.  Cuban food and drinks, music and film, what a better reason to get out on a chilly pre-winter night. You can pre-buy tickets at the box office, or get them at the door.

And lastly, that cancelled spot on the South India photo tour is still available. If you’ve been humming and hawing, there’s just enough time to get all immunized up and an Indian visa in your passport.  So what is holding you back?

SOUTH INDIA
Jan.15th -  29th 2014

South India is a land of colour and contrast, where the faces are darker and the saris more brilliant than its neighbours to the north.  This quintessential part of the world is a photographer’s paradise where a camera becomes the prefect enabler for full immersion into the tropical pace of the lands, culture and people.

Turmeric painted cows grace the streets as they saunter randomly and fearlessly in traffic, nibbling on tufts of grass that sneak through the dusty earth and cracked pavement... ...more here

MEXICO - OAXACA DAY OF THE DEAD
Oct. 29th - Nov. 9th 2014

Located in southern Mexico, Oaxaca is steeped in traditions and is best known for its indigenous peoples and cultures, ancient civilizations, colonial art, architecture and the vibrant colours of daily life. The Day of the Dead is the biggest celebration of the year, and the most magical time to visit. Besides the festivities and the city, we will also venture into the countryside to photograph rural landscapes, indigenous communities, tiny villages and small towns.  ...more here

SEA OF SICILY
May 9th - 19th 2014

I’ve been taking photographers to Sicily for 8 years, but this next tour I’ll be doing something completely new. Based in Sciacca, Trapani and Palermo we will explore the western coastal areas, and weather permitting even and island or two.

I’ll be teaming up with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Certified Expert Piet Van den Eynde for the perfect opportunity to hone your post-processing skills.
