La Simulation montréalaise de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) est une conférence de 3 jours dans la ville de Montréal qui rassemble des étudiants de disciplines variées pour discuter de problématiques globales en santé. Le but de cette simulation est de faire connaître aux étudiants le rôle de l'OMS ainsi que de participer de façon active aux politiques globales en santé.

Join IFMSA-Québec's Delegation to the MonWHO 2017! IFMSA-Québec is now looking for students interested in participating in this exciting event from March 24-26th. This year's theme is Sexual health!
 
The Montreal World Health Organization Simulation (MonWHO) is a 3-day conference hosted in Montreal that brings together students from a wide range of disciplines to discuss global health issues. The goal is to acquaint students with the role of the WHO while providing them an opportunity to play a proactive role in global health policy.

Appel aux Candidatures: Sommet FRESQue 2017

Fondé en janvier 2016, le FRESQue rassemble des étudiants et futurs professionnels de la santé de partout au Québec. Le FRESQue se propose comme une organisation-conseil qui vise à formuler des recommandations pour orienter le travail du ministre de la Santé et des Services sociaux. Le FRESQue est un défenseur actif de la vision des étudiants d'un système de santé plus efficace, juste et accessible.

IFMSA-Québec est à la recherche de membres intéressés à contribuer à la rédaction de son document officiel d'opinion ainsi qu'à participer au Sommet Annuel le 11 et 12 mars 2017.

Le thème du Sommet Annuel 2017 du FRESQue est "L'amélioration de l'accès publique aux soins de santé mentale". Ce thème ne touche pas seulement les soins, mais aussi la prévention, le financement, la recherche et la santé mentale des intervenants, entre autres. Cette année les conférenciers incluent: Diane Lamarre, critique de la santé pour le PQ; Dr. Amir Khadir, députée du QS; et Dr. Lucie Nadeau, Psychiatre Transculturelle de McGill. Call for Applications: FRESQue 2017

The Quebec Health Professional Students' Roundtable unites students from all health-related programs and aims to formulate and adopt recommendations in order to positively impact Quebec health policy and the work of the Minister for Health and Social Services. The FRESQue is an active advocate for the health profession students' vision of a more effective, efficient, just, and accessible healthcare system.

IFMSA-Québec is now looking for students interested in contributing to co-writing our official positions document, and in attending the Annual Summit on March 11th and 12th.

This year's Annual Summit theme is "Improving Public Access to Mental Healthcare". This theme touches on treatment, prevention, financing, research, mental health of professionals, etc. This year, the speakers will include Dianne Lamarre, PQ Health Critic; Amir Khadir, Quebec Solidaire MNA; and Dr. Lucie Nadeau, Transcultural Psychiatrist from McGill. It’s with great pleasure that IFMSA is opening the call for the IFMSA Delegation that will participate in the 2017 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.

When: 22-26 May 2017
Where: Cancun, Mexico

Description:
The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (Global Platform), as recognized by the UN General Assembly, is the main forum at the global level for strategic advice, coordination, partnership development and the review of progress in the implementation of international instruments on disaster risk reduction. It was established in 2006 and is now the world's foremost gathering of stakeholders committed to reducing disaster risk and building the resilience of communities and nations.

The Global Platform is characterized by a format that facilitates dialogue and exchanges among all stakeholders, both governmental and non-governmental. It features a high-level dialogue which brings together senior government officials, including heads of state and government, ministers, mayors, parliamentarians and leaders from the private sector, science and civil society.

General Remarks:
- IFMSA is not able to financially support travel nor accommodation for the meeting. Delegates must fund their accommodation and flight tickets. Nevertheless, IFMSA can issue letters of support which can help you in your fundraising efforts, if needed.
- In reflection to the high level of this meeting, previous experience in the topic of DRR is needed.
- IFMSA delegates are requested to actively and fully participate in the delegation's preparation process for the meeting and contribute to the creation of IFMSA’s strategies for this meeting.

Selection Criteria:
- Experience in IFMSA (local, national or international).
- Experience in the topic of the meeting and work done at local, national and international levels.
- Plans for future involvement in this area and expected outcomes on national or international level.
- Regional representation and Gender balance will also be taken into account.

Call for Observers: Fourth IFMSA Team of Officials Meeting

Place: Casablanca, Morocco
Arrival day: 28th April 2017
Working days: 29th April, 30th April, 1st May 2017
Departure day: 2nd May 2017
Registration fees: 120 euros
Registration includes: Accommodation, boarding and meeting facilities.

           Call for Applications: 23rd World Association for
                         Sexual Health (WAS) Congress

It’s with great pleasure that I am opening the call for the IFMSA Delegation that will participate in the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) Congress.

IFMSA aims, by participating in this event, to provide medical students with an academic environment to learn about sexology, sexual pleasure and sexual health and rights from a scientific approach, to make the most out of this space as well as to voice out the need for future health professionals to be more involved in the field of sexual health.

Thanks to an educational grant they are willing to provide us, we will be able to ensure IFMSA’s presence there in the form of free registration spots, a workshop on Sexual Health and Sexual Pleasure specifically aimed at medical students, and a spot in a plenary panel on sexual pleasure.

What: The World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) is an international umbrella organization representing sexological societies and sexologists worldwide. Founded in 1978 in Rome, Italy, the WAS main goal is to promote sexual health for all through sexological science. They hold biannual congresses, being the upcoming one (23rd) in Prague.

- Delegates are requested to actively participate in the delegation's preparation process for the meeting and contribute to working on  IFMSA’s strategy for this meeting.

- The commitment of WAS to the future generation of health professionals will allow us to provide Free Registration Fees for 20 Participants, therefore this will be the maximum number of people selected

           Call for Applications: Training Disaster Medicine
                                       Trainers 2017

Do you dream about working in disaster settings? Are you interested in playing an active role in emergencies and disasters? Do you have a passion for disaster medicine?

Apply for the international Training Disaster Medicine Trainers 2017! It begins with three months online learning, followed by one-week residential course in Novara, Italy.

The program consists of classes with both conventional and innovative teaching strategies, computer based and real life simulations. Part of the residential course will take place in tents the Red Cross Italy uses in disaster response. Students will stay in these tents for three nights, also using them for simulated disaster response activities. The students will learn from experts of the emergency and disaster medicine community. At the end of the program, you will possess extensive knowledge about disaster medicine and become a certified IFMSA Disaster Medicine Trainer. This will give you the skills and knowledge to deliver disaster medicine courses to other medical students within your communities, IFMSA General Assemblies, and Regional Meetings. TdmT graduates are part of a global network of medical students with the skills and knowledge of delivering a well-planned training course on disaster medicine.

Our aim is to empower medical students with knowledge and skills on disaster medicine, to inspire them to learn more and to give them the opportunity to share what they have learned.

Students will be selected on the basis of their application (Including motivation letter and the depth of current plans to deliver the disaster medicine basic courses after TdmT graduation.) The selection will be based upon the best possible balance in gender and regional representation.

Please note that selected students for TdmT 2017 are expected to fulfill both the residential and the online course.

When?
Residential course is in Novara, Italy 17th - 23th July 2017, arrival day is the 16th and departure day is the 24th. The online training begins the 1st April and ends the 30th June. The online learning can be adapted to your every day life, and you can one week reduce the studies in order to compensate with more studies another week. It is anticipated to take about 2 hours a week.

Cost?
450 Euro to be paid before arrival to Novara.

           Summer School ‘Health & Migration’ in Belgium

This summer, the city of Ghent (Belgium) will welcome students from all over the world for a 10-day educational program, along with various social and cultural activities. The Summer School ‘Health & Migration’ has come to its 7th edition, and is organized by the Belgian Medical Students’ Association (BeMSA-Ghent), a local branch of IFMSA. 

The program will take place will take place from the 3rd until the 12th of July 2017. Participants attend interesting lectures taught by renowned doctors, professors and high-ranking officials connected to Ghent University as well as other international institutions. They will be introduced to the reciprocal concepts of health and migration in an international context . Join for an educative and culturally diverse debate that will broaden your views on the different subjects studied!

           Summer School ‘Reproductive Health & Rights’
                                           in Belgium

This summer, the city of Ghent (Belgium) will welcome students from all over the world for a 10-day educational program, along with various social and cultural activities. The organizing team of the Summer School ‘Reproductive Health & Rights’ (RHR) consists of students from different faculties such as the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. 

The program will take place will take place from the 3rd until the 12th of July 2017. Participants will be provided with a varied educational and social program and give them insights from various points of view. During our lectures, students from different cultures and nationalities will discuss subjects such as genital mutilation, IVF, female rights, HIV and abortion stigmas, gender diversity… The local SCORA team will contribute to this Summer School by organizing a shortened version of one of their successful projects ‘Sexual education in high school’.
