Kristen Hood Receives Award

Kristen Hood, class of 2012, was awarded the W. Forrest Robertson Band Leadership Award, established in memory of Forrest Robertson, former band director at Wilmington Christian Academy, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2001.  Mr. Robertson was a kind and gracious Christian man, who was one of the original organizers of the NCCSA All State Band Clinic.  Kristen is an Honors Band participant, nominated by her band director for recognition of her leadership and character qualities.  A six-member committee, using eight criteria, judged the nominated applicants, and chose Kristen based on her achievements, personal testimony, volunteer ministries, and more.  Kristen is an officer in her school's Tri-M Music Honor Society, chaplain of the Beta Club, and currently holds a 4.5 GPA.  She plays in the band, marching band, auditioned chorale, and is on the varsity girls' softball team.  She has played piano for 11 years, piccolo for five, and flute for eight.  She is active and faithful in her church, and participates in youth group, Bible study, church choir, children's activities, and special music.  She is described as a "godly young lady that excels in Christian character, always displays a positive attitude, and is a leader among her peers, as well as a role model for younger students."  Kristen accepted Christ when she was eight years old.  In the seventh grade, she rededicated her life to God, with the desire to seek His will for her life.  She writes, "Daily, I want to pursue a closer relationship with God by reading my Bible, praying for all aspects of my life, and having fellowship with Him and other Christians.  He is the One I should be living my life for, and I owe Him everything."  Kristen plans to major in Music Therapy, and use her gifts to help and serve others.  Congratulations, Kristen!

Lori Hostetler joins the faculty as the Yearbook Class teacher.  She has been a substitute teacher in Wake County for five years, and volunteered in the Wake County Public School System for the past 12 years.  Her favorite verse is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  Mrs. Hostetler's hobbies include nutrition, traveling, working out, beading, and spending time with family and friends.  She and her husband have been married for 26 years, and have two children, Alexa, 16, a junior at Fuquay Varina High School, and Shane, 11, a sixth-grader at WCA.  Mrs. Hostetler says, "There are so many things about WCA that I love!  The genuine love of teaching that the teachers here have radiates throughout the school.  The students are respectful and have a desire to learn.  The warm and caring atmosphere, as well as the welcoming staff family, have been wonderful.  My favorite thing at WCA are my yearbook students! They are a great group of hardworking young people, producing a yearbook that will be on the cutting-edge!"  Welcome, Mrs. Hostetler!  We're glad you're here!

A Message for All WCA Supporters

At this special time of the year, I am reminded of the many blessings God has bestowed upon WCA - a beautiful campus, wonderful facilities, teachers who love Him and share that love with their students, and a warm, welcoming community of parents and children.  I am very thankful for your involvement with Wake Christian Academy.  Our students deserve the best possible educational experience, and we believe WCA offers that and much more.  Our tutition covers the cost to operate the school, but the Annual Fund allows us to continually expand and improve the overall educational experience of our students.  May I ask that you prayerfully consider how your family can contribute to this fund, making the Wake Christian Academy experience the very best it can be?  With your prayers and support, we can continue to improve our school, and WCA can realize its full potential.  For more information about the 2012 Annual Fund visit our website.  To participate in the 2012 Annual Fund, click here, or mail in your tax-deductible gift to the school.  Thank you for the many contributions of your time, talents, and gifts.  God has blessed us with so much, and it's exciting to envision all He has in store for the future of WCA.  May your family enjoy the Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In Him,
Mike Woods
