CHFT's Spring Education Events

Don’t miss CHFT’s spring education events – one in Toronto on April 18 and one in Durham May 9

Spring and education go hand in hand at CHFT! We have two events planned – one in Toronto on Saturday, April 18 and one in Durham on Saturday, May 9. Program brochures have already been sent to co-op offices. Registration is now open. The early bird discount ends April 4 for the Toronto event and April 25 for the Durham event.

CHFT's Annual General Meeting

CHFT’s Annual General Meeting is Wednesday, May 13 at the Downtown Marriott Courtyard Hotel.

All members and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend CHFT’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m.

The AGM will take place at the Downtown Courtyard Marriott Hotel located at 475 Yonge Street. The directions to the hotel are straightforward - walk one block north of College on Yonge Street on the east side, turn right on Wood Street and look for the hotel’s entrance. We had to move the meeting to the Downtown Marriott because the Oakham House kitchen is being renovated.

At our AGM there will be
  • a board election
  • audited financial statements
  • anniversary and other awards, and
  • a presentation on the CHFT Diversity Scholarship Program.
More information will be mailed to co-op offices soon.

CHFT Diversity Scholarship Program

The process for choosing this year’s scholarship recipients is underway. Scholarship interviews will take place later in March. There are now more than 130 scholarship recipients currently attending college and university. The CHFT Diversity Scholarship event will take place on Tuesday, June 30 7:00 p.m. at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts.

Diversity scholarships are offered in 9 parts of the country. It is a partnership with regional federations, CHF Canada, and the CHFT Charitable Fund. Together in 2019 we awarded students across Canada $171,000 to 135 students.

CHFT's New 3 Year Plan

CHFT needs a new three-year plan. So, this summer we will reach out to members to ask them about what our priorities should be. Consultation meetings will be organized in Toronto and Durham.

Co-op Cost Cutters
Do this Energy Efficient work before rebates end!

There is currently an excellent rebate available for LED retrofit work.  But it’s coming to an end this year.

And co-ops get twice the amount of rebate!  Make sure to lock in yours before they’re gone.

The good news is, Co-op Cost Cutters has a service that can help!

MultiLogic will come out to audit your co-op and secure your incentive.  All applications must be pre-approved by the deadline of December 31, 2020 to qualify.  And projects must be in service by the end of December 2021.

MultiLogic will take care of the entire project, from start to finish. They will handle removal and proper disposal of old fixtures, installation of new ones and even take care of the rebate application for you.  The rebate money will come to your co-op directly.

LED lighting can save between 50 – 70% on electricity consumption and cost.

If you haven’t already done this energy efficient work, now is the time to do it!

For more information, email
info@multilogicenergy.com or call 1 866 291-1266, extension 20.

A message from Toronto Public Health

Everyone should consider the following preventative measures
  1. If you feel sick, stay home from work and avoid meetings and social gatherings.  This is good advice whether the cause of your illness is coronavirus or the common cold.
  2. Wash your hands regularly, avoid touching your face and eyes, cover your mouth when you cough, and avoid others if you are sick.
  3. Face masks don’t offer much protection against contracting the virus but can help prevent someone who is ill from spreading whatever they have contracted.
You can find daily updates on the global situation at the World Health Organization’s site here
