A Time for Giving
A Time for Giving This Wednesday
Join us Wednesday, December 14 in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 pm as we welcome some special families, sing some carols, share the gospel, and present our Christmas Name Tree gifts. Our church has worked hard to supply Christmas for these young families and it is going to be a great time of sharing. We are asking our members to bring enough food for their family and a few more as we pool it together for an old-fashioned pot luck night.
Congregation Vote on 2017 Budget
This is an exciting time in our church as we look forward to what God is planning for us as a church over the next year. Our members have reviewed our annual budget in their Bible study classes and will be voting on our new strategic initiatives after the 10:30 am worship on Sunday, December 18.
Christmas Party
Join our young adult Bible study class and our adult Bible Explorers class at the home of Jack and Patti Englert for their Christmas celebration. Nursery is provided.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship
Join us for a festive time of worship as we celebrate the incarnation of the Savior of the World. We will gather for a casual time of your favorite Christmas songs and the recounting of the Christmas story. Bring the family and make the Bayou Drive candlelight service part of your annual tradition.
Barnes Baby Welcoming
Barnes Baby Crib Decorating
Help us welcome the newest Barnes baby by depositing gifts in the crib in the foyer until Christmas as we celebrate the joy of life with Michael and Betsy.
New Women's Bible Study
Beth Moore's Mercy Triumphs from the book of James starts January 11 for our women on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. Registration is required by signing up at the welcome center or by calling the church office. You can purchase a companion workbook from Lifeway to accompany your study.

The Mess of Christmas Sermon Series
The Mess of Christmas Sermon Series
We read Scripture like verses inside a Hallmark card without giving any thought to the context of what’s really happening. These verses are like Instagram pictures - social media stories cut and filtered to frame what we want others to see amid all the craziness in our lives. At Christmas we have Instagram churches telling Instagram stories of an Instagram Jesus in an Instagram manger. But the picture is bigger than that. Just outside the Instagram picture of our traditional Christmas story are the lives of sinful men, a gruesome death on a cross, and a gospel that reaches into the gutter of where men live. This is the story of the incarnation. This is the real contextual story of Christmas.
Leader of Worship Music
Praying for Leader of Worship Music
We continue to receive applications for our advertised posting for a new leader of worship music. We are looking for someone gifted in music with a passion for the Lord to lead us each Sunday morning as we sing in glory to God. Please continue to pray for our Trustees as they work through applications in preparation for making a recommendation to the church. Read the job posing online.
Wednesday Proverbs Study
Wednesday Proverbs Challenge
Our Wednesday night adult Bible study group is taking the Proverbs challenge, an attempt to see weekly events through the lens of Proverbs. Join us, and learn to see life through the wisdom found as you walk in relationship with God.

Church Buildings Matter

Church facilities do not necessarily compel people to come to Christ, but they can definitely repel them. Being good stewards of a meeting location touches more than membership. It becomes an evangelistic tool to reach the surrounding community. Just like the interior of your home captures your personality and provides a sense of warmth and rest for your family and guests, your church facilities reflect or detract from a right presentation of the gospel.

At Bayou Drive we are working hard to consider our facilities and to develop a strategy for the coming years. Would you help us? It does not require someone with business or construction knowledge. We are looking for dreamers who can look at what we have and the resources available to us to help shape our future. Would you pray about being involved in NEXTgen? Men and women, both seasoned and new members, are welcome to participate. Contact a staff member to express your interest.
