"Do you want free money?" - Wednesday's big quote                           View this email in your browser

June 18th, 2021

As you may recall, we purchased as many gift cards from local businesses in the region that we could who have been heavily impacted by COVID. We had $25,000 to use up and we used every dollar and then some. Some of the gift cards we delivered to some of our Chamber Members celebrating a milestone with us this year but the bulk were given away the other day.

On June 16th we set up tables in the parking lots of Dauphin Home Hardware and Coop grocery store to hand-deliver roughly 1000 gift cards.  In less than two hours, we had all of the cards dispursed. So now the power is in the hands of those that received an envelope yesterday. We bought those gift cards to support the businesses, now we're asking that they purchase more than what the card is worth. This multiplies the initial investment we made.

We also had a draw for five $100 Chamber Bucks prizes thanks to Dauphin Home Hardware. The winners were contacted but if you''d like to see who won, click the video below.

Thank you to the board members Gabe, Gloria, Melanie and her kids for helping getting the cards into everyone's hands the other day. And a big thanks again to City of Dauphin and Dauphin & District Community Foundation for contributing to the $25,000 that went into this project. We've helped so many businesses in the region 💖

The Manitoba government has come out with a plan for the summer that involves milestones and vaccination rates. There are a number of details not outlined so this should be evolving more as time goes on as it is left quite vague. For now, the reopening path that they have shared can be located on the provincial website. This is something that chambers across the province have been asking for from the MB government so we can plan to get businesses back to running at better capacities.
