Our Industry Speaks: "The Only Certainty is Uncertainty"

The full results of the Julius Partners business and worker surveys on the effects of the pandemic have been published in June's CX Magazine and online (Worker SurveyBusiness Survey). It will come as no surprise that the results make for depressing reading. Most business owners predict that their turnover will be 50% of what it was in the year after re-opening. Only around 50% of workers are expecting their venues to re-open. 69% report mental health and anxiety issues.

One detail that leapt out was only five suspected (but not confirmed) cases of COVID-19 were reported across both surveys by workers being exposed to audiences before the shut down.  As they were not tested or confirmed, we can't include them as proof of infection. While some may argue that this proves the unfairness of the restrictions on the events industry, it is more likely that we were just incredibly lucky that major events weren't exposed to the virus. The recent second wave of infections that has swept through Seoul's nightclubs is a case in point.
