The U.S. Lifesaving Service was the precursor to today's U.S. Coast Guard. Six stations dotted Ohio's Lake Erie coast back in the day. See a replica on the grounds of Marblehead Lighthouse State Park with a restored 26-foot surf boat, beach apparatus cart, and exhibits.
