North Carolina University

Twentyone students of North Carolina University visited ILISA this June. They took part in a 4-week spanish training, which offered a level for every student. Whether intermediate 1/2 or advanced 1/2, ILISA found for every student the perfect level of learning. In combination with the morning activities to different museums, the rainforest, the central market or a vulcano, the students get to know how varied Costa Rica is. The culture had shown its best side to the students.
For the students of North Carolina University the four week intensive program not just offers a nice trip to Costa Rica and an intensive learning of another language, it provides them with University Credits, too.

Tico Experience
I’m a junior at Western Carolina University in the U.S., and I received a scholarship to come on this program in Costa Rica.
The staff at Ilisa was always so nice and helpful, especially when I was trying to plan weekend trips. My professor was also one of the best professors I’ve ever had. Adolfo really knew how to incorporate every type of learning to make sure we really understood what we were going over. The staff really made me feel like I was part of a family; a family where the laughter, learning, and fun never stopped. There was such a variety of excursions in this program, and I loved that we got to experience so much from the culture.
I was very nervous when I first got to Costa Rica, because I wasn’t sure how well I would be able to communicate with my host family, but they were some of the nicest and most helpful people I’ve met. I actually started speaking Spanish like I had never spoken it before because I was always too afraid to try. I remember my first day of class thinking I wouldn’t be able to do it since I was going to have to talk so much, do roleplays, give presentations, and be in so many Spanish conversations. I ended up feeling comfortable though, and I jumped right in and did well in the class.

I not only gained experience from Ilisa, but I gained confidence in myself from this month in Costa Rica with the help from so many wonderful people.

Weber State University

Weber State University is staying right now at ILISA in Costa Rica. They are beginning their third week of their intensive spanish program. One of the many activities they participated in, was a football match on an indoor soccerfield with the North Carolina University and the Combo Tour to Poas Volcano. Next weekend they are going to "Rincon de la vieja".

 Poas Crater !

Activities
One of our weekly activities is to go playing soccer! All students of ILISA are invited to a great game in a indoor soccer hall. Some of our professors are enthusiastic soccer players too, and they love to join the game with the students. :)
