Aquí en Costa Rica se celebra la Navidad en familia. En la Nochebuena, el 24, normalmente hay una cena familiar y los adultos abren sus regalos a medianoche. El 25 por la mañana los niños  abren los regalos que trajo el Niño Dios mientras que dormían. Tradicionalmente, encuentran sus regalos al lado de sus camas, pero esta tradición ha cambiado en los últimos años. Hoy en día es muy popular encontrarse alrededor del árbol donde están los regalos. Una comida navideña muy típica tica es el tamal. El tamal se compone de una masa especial de maíz rellena de ingredientes, como por ejemplo cerdo, pollo, arroz, chile y guisantes, todo envuelto en hojas de banano. Para los ticos, el mes de diciembre no sólo es el mes de la Navidad, sino también la época de fiestas. En Zapote, cerca del centro de San José, se celebran los Festejos Populares, y el 26 de diciembre tiene lugar El Tope, que es un desfile espectacular con caballos montados por jinetes, música y bailes. También se pueden ver las carretas típicas ticas y no hay que olvidar el carnaval, en el cual desfilan comparsas al son de la música, o el Festival de la Luz, que es un desfile nocturno de carrozas, bandas colegiales y comparsas.

Me encanta ayudar a nuestros estudiantes y poder compartir la cultura y tradiciones de Costa Rica. En mi tiempo libre encanta compartir con mi hija Sofía, leer, bailar  y cuando tengo tiempo hacer ejercicio.“ Scarleth

“Me encargo del área de la recepción y cobros, me gusta mucho que vengan estudiantes de otros paices porque siempre son amables y es bueno conocer personas de otros lugares. Llevo poco tiempo trabajando para Ilisa pero el tiempo que he estado me ha gustado mucho laborar para esta empresa. Después de mi trabajo o en mis días libres tomo mi cámara y voy por diferentes lugares a tomar fotografías y también me gusta mucho leer. " Sharon

Al visitar Ilisa, Scarleth y Sharon con mucho gusto les ayudarán a Ustedes organizar un taxi, recomendarán como llegar a los sitios turisticos de Costa Rica, o simplemente procesarán el pago por el programa.

Hola a todos,
My name is Anna, I am from Germany and I worked as an intern at ILISA’s reception for half a year in 2011/12. I enjoyed being in Costa Rica and working at ILISA very much, which is why I just recently came back.
First of all, I consider Costa Rica as a beautiful, friendly and safe place to be. There are lots of things to see and do here and I experienced the Ticos as open, friendly and helpful people, which made me feel comfortable at all times. Working at ILISA was a valuable experience for me because I learned a lot about the Costa Rican culture, improved my Spanish and was surrounded by very nice people. I enjoyed the harmonious atmosphere at the school and made a lot of friends. I also like the fact that ILISA is located in San Pedro, a nice suburb of San José, in a beautiful glass building with a stunning view from the classrooms over the town and mountains. One of my responsibilities during my stay at ILISA was helping to organize after class activities, such as the weekly Happy Hour, where staff and students chat, get to know each other and have a drink together, as well as dancing classes and visits to the museums in downtown San José. I really enjoyed the personal and friendly contact between staff and students. As I also took Spanish classes after work, I can say that I experienced ILISA’s teachers as very competent and motivated and the classes as well-organized, interesting, varied and effective.
There is a lot more I could say about my work at ILISA but maybe you would like to come here yourself to make your own experiences, as an intern or as a student! To conclude, I can just say I came back… which happened for a reason!
