This week, we pay tribute to our incredible nurses at Toronto Rehab-UHN. National Nursing Week occurs annually from Monday to the Sunday of Florence Nightingale’s birthday on May 12th, with this year marking the 200th anniversary of her birth.

Nurses play critical roles across point of care, education, research, and all levels of leadership at Toronto Rehab. We are extremely grateful for their impact and innovation, especially as we navigate this unprecedented health crisis

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep our communities healthy and safe.

With warm regards,
Gillian Howard
Interim President and CEO

Past Patients Share Their Experiences to Build Community
Recognizing that patients at Toronto Rehab's Lyndhurst Centre for Spinal Cord Rehab are without their main support system due to this pandemic, Team "I Will" reached out through a special Zoom video call on May 7th to Motivate, Inspire, and Unify. While patients and staff at Lyndhurst Centre enjoyed pizza together at a safe, social distance from one another in the cafeteria, past spinal cord injury patients shared through live video chat what they experienced before, during and after their injuries. Team "I Will" initiated the event to help keep spirits up and provide positive thoughts. This dedicated group is also currently offering Team "I Will"  vs. COVID-19 in-home workouts where together they sweat and raise money to help purchase specialized fitness equipment for patients at Lyndhurst Centre. Thank you Team "I Will" for your ongoing dedication and support!

Thank You for Helping Our COVID-19 Response
During this time of crisis, Toronto Rehab's care teams are challenged to maintain their resiliency and well being. They are being redeployed and finding new ways to care for their patients. The service and entertainment industry is generously honouring these heroes by providing meals and treats, safely delivered to staff to enjoy during their shifts at all Toronto Rehab facilities. We are grateful to partners like FeedTheFrontLine TO, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and Canada India Foundation for coordinating these efforts and extend our heartfelt thanks to the hospitality contributors: Pusateri’s, Tabule Middle Eastern Cuisine, Pukka, Tamarind Modern Indian Bistro, and Pumpernickel’s.
