Supporting Bible translation in Papua New Guinea through
computer support and health care

June 2017

Critical Need

Six and half years ago we first set foot in Papua New Guinea. Since then we have had the opportunity to support Bible translation in a number of ways. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Melody finds her work as part of the clinic team both challenging and rewarding, providing health care to fellow missionaries and national patients in our valley. As a Community Group leader for the current 7th grade girls and, having grown up on the mission field herself, Melody enjoys walking alongside the girls, pointing them toward Christ as they face the challenges and joys of growing up as third-culture kids.

Andrew has worked in the helpdesk of the Communications and Technical Services (CTS) department, has filled in as manager of the department, and is currently enjoying the challenges of working as one of the two network engineers. The CTS department supports more than 60 servers, over 300 department computers, and over 800 personal devices that make translation, literacy training, teaching, health care, communication with family and partners, and all the other roles that work together to support Bible translation possible. It is a challenging task with limited resources, but it has been exciting to see how technology can further Bible translation!

We are so blessed to have many of you as part of our partnership team! By partnering with us you are helping to bring a real and permanent change to the people of Papua New Guinea.

The ministry of Wycliffe Bible Translators is unique and is funded by those who believe in its vision of reaching all the people of the world with God's life changing Word. Wycliffe has carefully produced a budget for members to cover the rising cost of living and working here in Papua New Guinea.

We are experiencing a shortfall of about $1,500/month in our ministry income.

Because of this shortfall in our ministry income over the last year we are praying for additional partners for our Wycliffe ministry. It is easy to be anxious and discouraged. We are choosing to trust that God will provide. Please ask Him if He wants you to be part of our financial team.

However God leads you, we want you to know how much we appreciate your friendship and encouragement.

This work is not about us. It is about Jesus, His love for the people of Papua New Guinea, and about sharing His Word with them.

With Gratitude,
Andrew and Melody
