Dear Fairphoner

Welcome to the first newsletter of the season!

Over the summer at Fairphone, we've been getting our software and hardware production complete, negotiating production timelines, and finishing the packaging on the Fairphone. And, of course, a few of us got to go on holiday!

We've got news to share and we'd like to start doing so on a bi-weekly basis. This week, fresh from the press: the first Fairphone cost breakdown, a reminder on the updated delivery timeline, and an overview of Fairphone events coming up - including our debut of prototypes in London next week. We want to see you in person!

For the coming months up to delivery, you can expect alerts to recent posts on our blog, product updates, and an inside look into what we do at Fairphone HQ - including stories from our work with the many other awesome partners who help make Fairphone possible. Read on!

Delivery Timeline: December

We had big news last week. We sent all our Fairphone buyers a full production update of our delivery timeline. Read our blog to get a full update on the timeline for December delivery.

Product Update

Oh yeah, we're still selling a phone! And on that front, we're always getting new updates - we put them in a logbook on our main specs page and we organize them on our blog under the Tag "product updates" here. But we'd like to share some updates here, as well.

  1. Upgraded body or "housing" of the phone! Originally, we had normal polycarbonate - now, we're going to use post-consumer recycled polycarbonate. That means old devices being smashed, melted and reused! And fewer CO2 emissions, of course.

  2. Kwame (our software developers) has entered the software QA (quality assurance) phase, which means we are getting closer to the Beta version to share with you.

  3. Conflict-free tantalum capacitors got through customs in China!

  4. And we have our first prototypes for internal testing, which we are sending to labs around the world.
