Peter's Message

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

This weekend is a busy one in our community.  Here at St Dunstan's we have a very joyful occasion coming up on Sunday morning, with a baptism in our 10am Eucharist.  And out in the wider community many of us will be attending Kop Hill Climb on Saturday and Sunday. I hope that, whatever you have planned, you have a time of rest and recuperation ahead.

With my very best wishes and prayers,

Harvest Festival

This year's Harvest Festival takes place on Sunday 2 October. The service will take place at 11am (instead of the usual 10am) and all are most welcome to come and enjoy fellowship over a finger buffet afterwards. Tickets are available to purchase either at this week's service, or from Cathy Farquhar on 01844 343226. Tickets cost £5 for adults, and children go free. If you are able to provide contributions towards this buffet, please let us know by using the sign-up sheet in the church porch.

The collection for Harvest Festival will be going to the Whitechapel Mission, and donations of food and clothing will be collected. Please see leaflets in the porch for more information on which items are most needed.

Fellowship Walking Group

All are welcome to join our monthly walking group, which meets in Burton Lane on Wednesday 28 September, this month at a slightly later time of 10am. By popular demand we are walking over to The Plough for a coffee & chat followed with a walk back home.
Please contact Mick & Anne (01844 346536) if you need further details.

Would you like to take the next step on your journey of faith by affirming your faith in Jesus? If so, you might want to consider ‘Confirmation’ – a special service in which someone affirms promises about following Christ in their lives.  The process includes sessions of exploring the faith and preparation, and culminates with a service taken by the Bishop.  Please speak to our Vicar Peter if you would like to find out more.

Ukraine Response - Important Update

Conversation Cafe
Our new Conversation Cafe at St Dunstan's for Ukrainian guests will start a little later than anticipated, on Wednesday 12 October. You can find the information below.

Come along to make new friends, learn the language and practice speaking English with our welcoming team over coffee and cake. There will be the chance to chat, learn and practice in a relaxed atmosphere. Suitable for all - from complete beginners with no English at all, up to those with a good grasp of the language looking to improve their skills with friendly and patient helpers. You're welcome just to come and enjoy some company, cake or conversation, too.

Join us 2-3.30pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, starting 12 October. All sessions are drop-in, no need to book. For more information or help with transport for these sessions, please email us.

Housing needed
We are in contact with a local Ukrainian family of three whose current arrangement for accommodation is coming to an end in January 2023.  They are looking for new housing options in the local area for the new year, be that finding a new host family, or renting part of a property, such as an annexe or a room arrangement.

If anyone has any suggestions or might know of something suitable, please contact

Volunteers Needed

Lifts to/from church
We still need volunteers who can help provide lifts to/from church either on a regular basis or ad hoc. If you can help, please email Cathy Farquhar, who can tell you more.

One Can Trust
As the numbers of families receiving provisions is increasing, more packers and delivery drivers are needed. This would take an hour or so on a Friday morning at the Baptist Church Upper Hall, once a month, or more if you have the time.

Bucks Vision
These are guided walks for a maximum of three hours once a month on a Saturday morning. More volunteers as drivers or guides would be welcomed.

If you'd like to take part in either (or both!) of the above please contact Rosemary Woodward-Court (01844 344417) who can put you in touch with the organisers.

Dates for your Diary

Prayers and reflections
Please pray for...
  • Peace throughout the world; especially as the war in Ukraine continues to bring destruction and death. We hold before God the people of Ukraine and pray for their safety, especially as Ukrainian advances reveal evidence of atrocities under occupation.
  • Those struggling with the cost of living crisis and facing a winter of rising energy bills and food costs. We pray for the work of international, national and local organisations who are working to bring much-needed relief.
  • Refugees and migrants fleeing terrible danger and seeking shelter and safety.
  • The work of local charities and the volunteers who support them, giving thanks for their commitment to our communities.
  • The new Prime Minister and her Government, that they will seek wisdom and justice, and that they will work diligently to support those most in need.
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time, and those who grieve them.
Don't forget that Canon Rob's reflections can be found on the church website by clicking the button below.
