August News

Hello everyone,

Let's start this month with news from the roster!
- Beaver Nelson is excited to share he will be opening for The Alarm on 8/18 at 3Ten ACL Live.  It's going to rock, get your tickets!
- Greg Vanderpool is looking forward to sharing his 8/15 show at the Townsend with his friend Marcus Striplin (of Pleasant Grove, Margaret Chavez).
- Nathan Hamilton will be joining fellow Abilene native Chris Beall at the Townsend the following week on 8/23.  Come see what's in the water in Abilene...
- Matt The Electrician is looking forward to playing Traveler's Rest Festival in Missoula, MT (curated by the Decemberists) early this month. Mid-August Matt will be making his debut at the Philadelphia Folk Festival
- David Berkeley has just mastered his new EP, The Faded Red and Blue. It’s a set of political songs that he hopes Trump will tweet about. David will be touring in October and November to spread the word. In the meantime, he is in Belgium this month playing the great Dranouter Festival with Son of Town Hall.
- BettySoo is hosting the Girls Who Do Boys Who Do Girls August 31 show at the Cactus Cafe. The show is a benefit for SIMS and features Austin singer songwriters covering each other's songs.  Curtis McMurtry is also joining in on the fun.

Time for another edition of our occasional feature, Friend In Music. This is where I ask a friend in the music community doing something that I think is cool to share their story with you. This month's Friend In Music is Amy Lombardi.  In addition to being the best networker I know in the entire Austin music community (for real!!), Amy also hosts a quarterly event here in Austin, and lucky us, the event happens to be this month. Similar events are also held regularly in Nashville, New Orleans and Atlanta. I've asked Amy to share the event and a little about herself as well, please meet our friend Amy Lombardi:

Hi, this is Amy Lombardi, I run TuneCore’s office here in Austin. Laura asked me to share information about TuneCore’s Artist Consultations, a free, quarterly event I’ve been hosting in town for the last two years. Our next Artist Consultations event is scheduled for Monday, August 27th, from 6-8pm at Empire Control Room.

Artist Consultations gathers a handful of industry professionals from different fields of expertise to meet with artists and answer their questions. Similar to speed mentoring, guests rotate among advisors to ask questions and gain insights on the projects they’re working on. This month we’re thrilled to present the following experts:

Charlie Faye of Charlie Faye Music Consulting - Skills for Self-Management
Freelance Music Writer Lynne Margolis - Writing Bios, Press Releases & One-Sheets
Madison Snelling of Juice Consulting PR - PR Timelines and Assets
Ramiro Sarabia & Demetrius Cooper of Facebook - Facebook & Instagram Advertising Strategies
Rebecca Reynolds of Austin Music Law - Entertainment Law
Ted Lowe of Choicetracks - Licensing & Publishing

We would love to see you! Watch for the Facebook event or feel free to email me at with any inquiries about Artist Consultations or other events we hold in Austin, Nashville, Atlanta and New Orleans.

A bit about me:  I’m Director, Entertainment Relations for TuneCore, a premier digital music distributor that also offers publishing administration and video monetization at Facebook and YouTube. I regularly work with artists and music industry professionals on their releases while increasing TuneCore's presence throughout Texas and the Midwest. Before TuneCore, I worked at A&M Records and Warner Bros. Records, Nasty Little Man PR and founded my own firms, Call Girl PR and Beekeeper Corp. Artist Management, where I managed 3-time Grammy nominee Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Cass McCombs, My Gold Mask and Escondido.

Thank you for sharing about the TuneCore Artist Consultations Amy!  I hope some of you in Austin can attend on August 27th.  I've taken part in a couple of these consultations and have seen artists drive in all the way from San Antonio and even Dallas.  Please sure to RSVP to save your seat.

This month marks 19 years of ComboPlate Booking -  sometimes we can't believe it ourselves.  Happy 19th to us!  More dates and August shows for the entire roster can be found below.
Thank you for reading as always.
