Sporting Clubs FREE Waste Management Programme

This program allows your club to support your "green" policy at your club for no cost. Congratulations to Happy Valley Tennis and Morphett Vale Football Clubs who have already taken up the offer.

We are supporting Clean Up Australia’s roll out of a new program called Greening the Green by hosting some pilot locations.
Greening the Green is all about tackling waste at local sporting facilities and Clean Up Australia are running it in conjunction with PepsiCo, REDCycle and Replas.
It is a 12 week online program where council and Clean Up Australia work with the local facilities to cut down on single use plastics sold in canteens, improve their waste management and education resources, and improve source separation through the introduction of Container Deposit Legislation (10c container refund scheme) bins to raise money for the facility and soft plastics collections.

At the end of the program, clubs will be eligible to receive equipment made from recycled soft plastics to showcase to the community how we can turn waste into a resource.
We are supporting the program in our continued efforts to reduce waste across our region and raise awareness of the impacts of single use plastics contributing to litter.
We will be able to provide participating clubs with:
  • support from our Waste and Recycling Education team e.g. to undertake this program, education sessions for staff, members, volunteers, printed materials
  • kerbside service bins and collection as per our service guidelines for sporting clubs.
To get your club involved, please fill out this brief online form and you will be added into the course:
If you wish to discuss this matter further, please contact our Waste and Recycling Education team on 8384 0666 or or Liam Rankine, Community Relationship Manager, Clean Up Australia at or 02 8197 3412.

It details where your rates will be spent, so we can continue delivering the services you value as well as developing and maintaining essential infrastructure such as roads, footpaths, open space and more.
